HOW TO SUBSTITUE DRIED HERBS FOR FRESH

I have a nephew whose wife has turned into quit the business woman with her own organic Miffys Muffin  mixes that you can purchase online.  I have to say that I have purchased these mixes and they are really good and healthy which is always a bonus.  Every week or so she has a food tip on her facebook page and I thought this one was of particular interest to me with the upcoming garden season and my love of growing fresh herbs.  The substitution ratio has always been a questions for me, but now Miffy has answered that question for me.  and I always like to give credit where credit is due... thanks Miffy.
Miffy's Marvelous Morsel is:

All about herbs...to SUBSTITUTE A DRIED HERB for its FRESH EQUIVALENT, use 1/3 of the amount. Use 1 teaspoon of dried for 1 tablespoon of fresh
(3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon). Add dried herbs during cooking to allow for the oils to be released. Add fresh herbs near the end of cooking so their flavor doesn't dissipate.
