TOMATO BASIL SOUP

2 cans of tomatoes
1 can chicken broth 
1/4 cup onions
2 cloves
Pinch Red pepper flakes
1-2 Tblsp pesto
1 cup Half and half

Sauté chopped onion and garlic in soup pot.  Blend/purée  tomatoes and sautéed onions and garlic in blender, add back  to pot with can of chicken broth. Simmer.  Add pesto.  Cool soup down before you add the half and half in order to not curdle the milk. Make sure to temper the milk.  This soup goes great with the skillet focaccia bread.
